Look for Less Fabric!

I spotted this find over at Decorpad and just thought I would share it with ya'll! I have been a long time fan of Windsor Smith's Riad fabric;

But as we all know, designer fabric isn't cheap. .  .

Yep, you read it right. . . $16.95/yard! Best deal I've heard about all week!

Where would you use this gorgeous fabric?! On pillows? To upholster a chair? Drapery panels? Decisions, decisions!

Before & After

Here's a project I worked on a few years ago and shared with you here. At the time I proclaimed that I didn't have any 'before' pictures. . . But look what I found! Somehow, seeing the 'before' shot makes the 'after' seem EVEN better!

 Before

yuck, yuck and yuck! Dated oak vanity (and coordinating toilet seat) combined with water damaged linoleum isn't exactly the look the homeowners where going for. What was once a room no one dared to step foot into soon became the favorite bathroom in the whole house!

After

You can see more of the details on this bathroom in this post.

Saturday's Shopping Spree

I spent Saturday in Roseville with my two favorite shopping partners (my sisters!) and we had a blast. Although part of the Roseville Galleria is still shut down due to repairs (because of this) thankfully my three favorite stores weren't harmed and were open so I could do a little perusing! I could have spent all day in Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel and Restoration Hardware but we had lots on the agenda so I just popped in  to take a quick little looksie around. Here's what caught my eye at Restoration Hardware:

I loved this combination of rustic farmhouse table with upholstered nailhead trim chairs and double light fixture. Oh, and that oversized framed map completed the look.

I know a lot of people are so over these antlers, but I can't help but still love them!

I still love the subway art! What about you?

I'm considering this bedding from Crate & Barrel for a project I am working on (that I mentioned here.)

I love, love, loved this vignette at Pottery Barn! I adore the combination of dark wood dresser with the sleek white shelves. Add some beachy accents and a soothing wall color and it's darn near perfection in my book!

I spy with my little eye three Hicks Pendants! I LOVE this light fixture and am noticing them everywhere lately!

That's all for now. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Room of the day

 via Lonny

Holy moly, time has somehow gotten away from me this past week so sorry for the lack of posts! Between all the work and play I have been doing I guess I have been neglecting the 'ol blog. . . I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that your week is off to a great start. Happy Monday!

Wedding Wednesday!

This wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty a while back and when I first saw it, the images went straight to my inspiration files without thinking twice! I love everything about this Rhode Island beach wedding from the flip flops to the Caribbean steel drummer! Take a peak and see why;

Plain White

By now everyone knows that I am a huge fan of COLOR. As long as I can remember I have always been drawn to bright, vivid hues and wild colorful patterns. When it comes to interiors I don't think a room is complete until you add at least a little splash of color! As much as I adore color color color, I believe one must balance all of that with loads of white in order to achieve a well balanced and nicely decorated space. Here are some home decor items that I LOVE in the color white;

1. White Bedding

I LOVE my white duvet and pillow shams that I picked up at Ikea a while back. There is nothing quite like a good set of crisp, clean white bedding in my opinion!

2. White Shower Curtains  - While there is a monstrosity of colorful and pattern infused shower curtains out there that I love, white somehow calls to me the most.

 via Country Living

I especially love white shower curtains with a little texture like this ruffled one, or like the waffle one I have in my bathroom.

3. White Towels - Growing up we always had a linen closet filled with white towels. I'm not sure if my mom just liked the look or if it was a choice based on convenience (easy to replace? easy to bleach to get clean?) Either way, I still love the look, feel and smell of clean, bleached towels! It sort of feels like I'm stepping out of the shower in a chic hotel room every morning!

4. White Sofas  - Probably the best decorating decision anyone could make. Ever.

5. White Drapes - This first image is a two-for with the white drapes and white sofa!

I've blogged before about my go-to source for affordable, white drapery panels. They are so versatile and practical and work well with just about any style of decor.

Here's a three-for-the-price-of-one; White drapes, check. White bedding, check. White lampshades, (we'll get to that one in a minute) check. But notice how the room still has tons of texture and pops of color, even with all that white!

6. White Dishes - I'm getting married this year and I am ecstatic to be able to register for new dishes, glasses, serving ware, etc. You better believe they are all going to be white!

 via House Beautiful

7. White Lamp Shades - I'm a sucker for a white drum lamp shade! Especially when paired with a fun lamp base like this silver one or the pair of gorgeous red lamps below.

Do you adore white as much as I do?!

New project: 10 year old girl's bedroom

I have another project in the works around my house; my soon-to-be step daughter's bedroom. She's going to be 10 in May and I am thinking about surprising her with a little room makeover. She has a lot of hand-me-down furniture pieces that are all great quality (a desk, dresser, large bookshelf) but they all need a little t.l.c. in the form of a good sanding and paint job. I have several ideas and she has even put in her two sense on what she would like her bedroom to look like. Here are some spaces I am using as inspiration to help give me a little kick in the pants to get started!

DIY Suzani Napkin Pillow

What do all these pillows have in common???

All of these stylish pillows were made using inexpensive napkins! Yep, you heard me right - cloth NAPKINS!

Today I am guest posting over at Our Fine House where I share the details on how I made this pillow out of a suzani inspired cloth napkin:

Here's another shot of my beloved new pillow, modeling on my bed next to my yellow chevron pillows from Mason Moonbeam
