DIY Suzani Napkin Pillow

What do all these pillows have in common???

All of these stylish pillows were made using inexpensive napkins! Yep, you heard me right - cloth NAPKINS!

Today I am guest posting over at Our Fine House where I share the details on how I made this pillow out of a suzani inspired cloth napkin:

Here's another shot of my beloved new pillow, modeling on my bed next to my yellow chevron pillows from Mason Moonbeam

Envelope Pillow Cover

After an afternoon sewing lesson with my mom on Saturday I was able to accomplish this all by myself last night;

Can you believe I sewed this gorgeous pillow myself?! I used these direction for sewing a simple envelope pillow cover and this fabric that I found for $6.39/yard. It was so easy in fact, I made two of them last night!

I work with a seamstress who typically fabricates all of my custom window treatments, pillows, cushions and more for my clients. But since I'm trying to do things on a tight budget around my own house, the cheapest way to do so is to do it yourself!

My first go around went well, although I think I need a little larger of a pillow form to insert into these (It's an 18" pillow cover and a 17" pillow form.) I'm still learning the ropes but am super excited that I can now sew my own pillows!!

I Spy. . . Pinwheel Pillows

 via here

Pinwheel, pinwheel, spinning around. Look at my Pinwheel and see what I've found. . .

Does this little jingle conjure up childhood memories for anyone else??!! (This show aired on Nickelodeon from 1977 to 1990 in case you are wondering.) To this day, I can't say the word 'pinwheel' without singing this song!

Anna of Absolutely Beautiful Things predicts that this pinwheel pattern might explode similar to the chevron/zigzag craze? I think she might be on to something! What do you think of this colorful, fun, playful pattern?!

Best news I've heard all day!

I used to have a friend who ran a local drapery work room. I've done business with her since 2006 and was always pleased with the service, quality of work and low rates that she provided. When the economy started going south and business slowed down a year ago, she moved out of state to be close to family and I was devastated! Well, I just got a call from her this morning and she has moved back to California and re-opened her shop! I couldn't be more ecstatic! She has great rates on everything from custom window treatments to pillows to upholstery and does amazing, quality work. If I can design and draw it, she can make it! I'm looking forward to working with her again on upcoming projects.

Contact me if you are interested  in a quote for custom draperies, roman shades and other window treatments, bedding, pillows, cushions, or table linens. Shipping services are available to anyone in the US!
