My 30th Birthday Party

I mentioned on the 8th that it was my birthday and that some family and friends were throwing me a cocktail party in my honor. We had about 40 guests come and celebrate my 30th birthday on Saturday, June 9th. The theme was pink and gold and there were all sorts of glittery decorations, pink flowers and fun details. We had tons of finger food appetizers and desserts as well as a champagne bar and fun mixed drinks! Here's a few pictures from the big event;

All sorts of tasty appetizers!

Dessert bar. . . Yes those are oversized champagne glasses filled with pink hydrangeas!

My sparkly gold shoes!

The champagne bar was a huge hit!

. . . And so were the pre-made mixed cocktails. Raspberry Mojitos and Sassy Strawberry Lemonade

A million thanks go out to Melissa, Michele, Jean and especially Carol for all your hard work and for throwing me such a fun party!!! Love you girls!

Birthday Party Inspiration Board!

via Ruffled
I saw this image (above) on Pinterest and thought it was such a gorgeous centerpiece for a party! I loved the gold, magenta and pink color pallette so much that I thought it would make a great theme for a birthday soiree! Check out the inspiration board I came up with:

A certain someone (as in me) turns 30 in a couple of months. Is it lame to throw yourself a birthday party?! Because I would LOVE to go with a theme similar to this. Either way, I really love this color combo, so much I can almost taste the champagne and pink macaroons! What do you think?

Quicky

I just wanted to pop in real quick and share with you a flower arrangement I made for my soon-to-be mother in law for her birthday earlier this week. . .

It looked so pretty sitting in my entryway that I almost didn't want to give it to her and keep it for myself to enjoy! The flowers were a $16 bunch I picked up from Costco. I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. See you back here next week for some more design goodness!

p.s. Make sure enter the Saffron Marigold giveaway if you haven't done so already! :)

Mary, Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow. . .

Last spring we planted some birds of paradise in our front yard. I have been anxiously awaiting the day that they FINALLY decide to bloom. After a lot of patience, I noticed a single blossom yesterday!

Birds of paradise have always been a favorite of mine, as they are often seen on the coast or in warmer, more tropical climates. Honestly, I thought it would take a few years before they produced any flowers, so I was stoked to say the least!

What's in your garden that is currently in bloom?

What's in your garden?

Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?. . . If only I had a dollar for every time someone recited that to me!

I have several rose bushes that we inherited when we purchased our home. I love being able to pick fresh flowers from my yard and display them throughout the house all spring and summer long! Although roses aren't my favorite, they still look beautiful scattered in vases throughout the house, and best of all they are free! Right now they are blooming in full force and it seems like I have an arrangement in every room! What's in your garden that you bring indoors to spruce up the decor of your home?
