Deal of the day

I was perusing the home decor aisles at Target yesterday and was quite pleased with all the new mirrors they have available! In particularly, this sunburst mirror caught my eye;
available here
It's a pretty decent size, measuring 24" in diameter and priced at only $39.99, I'm sure I could find a number of places (and clients) to you use this!

Library Lights

I am loving the use of simple and traditional library lights installed in unexpected places. This chic and semi-industrial look seems to be popping up everywhere!

Circa Lighting sells these fixtures in an array of finishes. Black just so happens to be my favorite!

Here is a more affordable option, available from several different online retailers. You can also find this same fixture at Lowes!
Available here, $57

What do you think of these uber-popular library lights? Would you put them in your home?

Project Update: Jordyn's Bedroom

There has been a whole lotta painting go'in on around my house, that's for sure! Last week I revealed the bookcase in my soon-to-be stepdaughters bedroom that I revamped with a little paint and restyling. Well, the painting shenanigans didn't stop there. . . I'm in the midst of tackling another piece of furniture from her bedroom with a coat of fresh, new paint. Here's a picture I snapped yesterday of the progress:

I've since applied primer and am getting ready to throw on the first coat of glossy, white paint. Once I'm done painting and sealing the desk, I think some cutsie new hardware is definitely in order. I'm considering something like this:

I'm also considering this lamp I saw at Lowes yesterday:

I have a soft spot when it comes to turquoise, gourd shaped lamps! This one is the perfect size to sit on top of the desk, and at only $24.99 I think I can squeeze it into the budget.

I found a really fun and funky starburst mirror at HomeGoods recently to go above the headboard (more on that project later.) I love it, and for $12 it can't be beat!!

(I'm not sure why the walls look like they are painted a pink-coral color?! They are just boring beige until I work up the energy and find the time to re-paint them! It must be a camera-reflection-thing.)

Yesterday I ordered this chair from Home Decorators to go with the desk:

It's called the 'James Side Chair' but we all know it's a Bertoia look-a-like! Although I am a huge fan of the mid-century designer chair, I could never in a million years consider spending $539 on the real Bertoia version, especially since it's just going into a kid's bedroom. When I saw the look-a-like from Home Decorators on sale for $79, I was SOLD! The vinyl seat pad of course with get a cover made out of a cute, colorful, coordinating fabric.

I'm so excited that this bedroom makeover is finally starting to come together! I'll share more with you later as I get closer to being complete! (If you want to see my initial design plans for this space, go here.)

Ceramic Garden Stools

Ceramic garden stools are every where these days, but have been a staple in home decor for quite some time. There's no denying their popularity indoors and out. I just love that these compact pieces are so versatile! You can use them as an end table, extra seating, as a portable accent table or simply just as decoration.

What's great about these little guys are that they fit in right at home with all different design styles and in any room of the home. They are literally like the perfect accessory! (Or is it a piece of furniture? Depends on how you look at it and how it's used, I guess!)

Imagine my excitement yesterday when I was perusing the isles of bargain furniture and accessories at Ross and I spotted an entire section of ceramic garden stools!

Most of these stools were priced at $39.99 and $49.99. They had a variety of colors and styles to choose from too. But heck, at these prices, you could always take a can of glossy colored spray paint to one and paint it any color you wish! I was praticularly found of this purple garden stool, below.

They even had a couple of the uber-trendy elephant shaped ceramic garden stools. These were reasonably priced at $69.99.

This white one below reminds me of this stool available at Horchow for $200!

It was like I had died and gone to ceramic stool heaven! My head was spinning with excitement over these awesome deals! Have you found any great bargains on home decor items lately? Tell me I'm not the only one who gets this crazy excited over stuff like this. . .    :)

Ikea Cabinets

There is no denying the fact that I LOVE Ikea. I've perused the kitchen cabinet section of Ikea a million times and admired their variety of styles and easy-on-the-wallet prices. I've also read excellent things about the durability of their cabinets (and 25 year warranty!) and I would totally use them in my own home or in a clients home if the budget was really tight. Take a look at these super-stylish kitchens. Can you believe they are Ikea?!

High Style, Low Cost Ideas with The Zhush

Today I am so excited because Sue from the amazing blog The Zhush is here! I've been a long time fan of her blog and look forward to her 'Mondays Pop of Purple' every week!! She has a wonderful sense of style, a gorgeous home and she recently opened up a shop that is filled with all sorts of goodies! You can check it out here.

-----------------

Hi everyone, I'm Sue from The Zhush here to talk about getting the "designer look" for less! Lately, I've been coveting these Curtis Jere Urchin sculptures.

These mid century iconic pieces work with so many different types of decor and can add so much depth, dimension and style to almost any space. The originals sell in the thousands on 1st Dibs.

Which is why I'm so excited to be offering these fabulous brass "wall flowers"at zhush.com. These bestsellers look great either on a table or bookshelf or grouped together hanging on a wall, just like the original seventies sculptures. Priced between $30. and $50. each, they are a much more reasonable alternative and absolutely achieve this look for a lot less!

Thanks for having me over today!

-----------------

You know how much I love finding great deals on stylish home decor, and these definately fit the bill! Thanks so much Sue! Hop on over to her site to shop for other stylish home accents, gifts, fashion accessories and more! Here's a peak at a few pretties I have my eye on;

Happy Friday everyone! Make sure you check back next week when Sarah from La Maison Boheme stops by to share some more stylish yet affordable decorating ideas!
