Room of the day

This gorgeous, light and bright office featured in Elle Decor is making me really wish I had a designated space all to myself! The built in cabinetry is phenomenal, as is the stainless steel file cabinet and inspiration board. I love combining a traditional style wood desk with a contemporary office chair - so chic! One could definitely get some major work done in this space, don't you think?!

Designing Women

I have serious office-envy when it comes to these designer's office spaces. I would kill to have ample, organized storage for samples and resources, room to work as well as space to meet with clients. Can't you just feel the creativity buzzing around these rooms?!

Inspiring Inspiration Boards

via Urban Hippy

I have always had an inspiration board in my home or office. In fact, I remember creating one as young as 10 or 11 in my bedroom as a kid. I would collect random little things like pictures, magazine cutouts, trinkets, buttons, dried flowers, stickers, party invitations, concert tickets, etc. and stick them all up on a bulletin board. These were all things that would make me smile every time I would look at them. As adults, many of us still create inspiration boards-some serve professional purposes, while others are just there to make us smile. No two will ever be the same, and that's what makes them so intriguing.

My 2 sq. ft. Office -- Before & After

If I had it MY way, I would have an office that looked a little something like this. . .

A parsons desk. Ghost chair. Zebra rug. Ample storage. Huge inspiration board. Lamps. Artwork. . . And the list goes on. That would be my dream office. . .

When we moved into our new house we had to downsize drastically. (But that's OK, because we are now homeowners and can do what we wish with our home!) Downsizing meant that I no longer would have a room or space dedicated to an office, until we had it in our budget to enclose our patio and undergo a big remodel. . . .

I was inspired by these small, tucked away work spaces. . .

So I dedicated a linen closet in our hallway to officially become my "office" (for the time being.) Check out the before;

After relocating one of the shelves, a little bit of paint, organizing, a quick $40 trip to Ikea for a chair, boxes and drawers to store stuff-- I now have a place to call my "office". Ok, so the square footage is just a little bit shy of 2 square feet, but hey, it works for me for right now!

My "office-closet" was recently featured on Young House Love-- Check it out!

While we are on the subject of offices, check out a few of my favorite blogger's stylish work spaces;

2 sq. ft. Office

Yes, you heard me correctly, 2 sq. ft.!!! I am in the process of turning what-used-to-be a 24" x 12" linen closet into my "office". (I crack myself up every time I refer to it as that!)

We recently moved into a (much smaller) house that has required us to become a little bit more creative when it comes to organizing and storing the things we use on a daily basis. (This is something that I am no stranger to! My first apartment in Los Angeles was a studio built in the 20's. You had to go through my closet to get to the bathroom! More on that later!) Since then I have been so blessed to have larger spaces to call home. Well, opportunity was knocking a few months back and we purchased a home. The new place is"quaint" (aka, very charming, but very small!) Eventually I would love to enclose the back patio and turn it into my office and studio, but until then, I will make due with my "closet-office", store craft supplies in the garage, and using the dining room table as a large work surface when need be.

I found this picture below today, which is very similar to my space (minus the Ghost Chair. I would KILL for that chair, but this ikea beauty will due for now.) My goal this weekend is to get my "office" completed and post pictures up here next week!
