Traditional Home + Lonny Magazine = TRADhome

It seems as if lately I can barely keep up with my blog roll, the stack of shelter magazines that come in my mailbox every month, and not to mention the multitude of online magazines! There is just SO MUCH great design inspiration out there these day! If only I could pour through each and every one, detail by detail. . . although I think that would be equivalent to a full time job! I keep my subscriptions basic (Elle Decor, House Beautiful & Coastal Living Magazines) but my blog roll is out of control (I think I try and keep up with around 200 blogs) but add on top of that all of the amazing online magazines like Lonny, Rue, High Gloss, Ivy & Piper and I just can not keep up! Well, add one more to that list. . .

Yesterday TRADhome hit the shelves (errrr. . . i mean the web) and boy is it a treat!!! Believe it or not, I have actually taken the time to devourer each and every one of the 344 pages about two times now and still haven't taken it all in! I might go back for round three this evening with a glass of wine. Yes, it's THAT good! Here's a peak into what caught my eye in this online magazine's debut issue;

Room of the day

I am in love with this bohemian-chic living room! Those coral-tangerine walls and gallery of art is making my head spin with delight. Of course the pillows and Moroccan poof are fabulous, but don't get me started on that rug! LOVE! Serena & Lily really has some amazing stuff. . .

I'm off to the city this weekend to catch a San Francisco Giant's game and maybe squeeze in a little shopping while I am there. It's officially spring (and baseball season :) and I couldn't be more excited! What are you up to this weekend?! Happy Friday!

Project Update: 10 year Old Girl's Room

I needed a little kick in the pants to get started on the latest project I am tackling around my house (that you read more about here.) So I did what I always do to get myself motivated - come up with a plan! Here's a sneak peak at what I have in store for my soon-to-be ten year old stepdaughter's bedroom:

Floor Plan

Design Concept Board

The desk, dresser and tall bookshelf are allready in the room, but will be getting fresh new coats of paint! I plan on purchasing a plain white duvet but use her existing red gingham dust ruffle. The rug is also existing, as is the lamp, bulletin board and yellow chevron pillows. I'm on the hunt for a new chair and hope to find something with a mid-century feel like this Bertoia Chair or a Panton Chair at a reasonable price. I am going to create a gallery wall of white framed art prints which I am really excited about! Also on the list is a DIY headboard, some floating shelves, a few new accessories and a new woven wood shade.

So what do you think? Think she will love it?! Ok. . . now that the fun part is done, it's time to get to work!

Wedding Wednesday!

I am really loving these adorable burlap wedding banners and am thinking about incorporating something similar into my own wedding. I think they would add that perfect touch of rustic simplicity and whimsy that I am looking for!

You can find all sorts of these available to purchase on Etsy but I think I'll go the DIY route and make them myself! More to come on that as we get closer to October! :)

Featured Designer: Diane Bergeron

I have featured the work of Melbourne designer Diane Bergeron here in the past, but I had never taken the time to check out her entire portfolio, until now. I am so glad I did! I love her style and approach to design. . .

Diane Bergeron's design philosophy is "based on timeless elegance and bold self-expression. Her approach is to mix classic and modern elements to invoke an atmosphere of glamorous sophistication while maintaining a relaxed feel. Diane’s vision and inspiration is never dictated by trends. Each project expresses her client’s personality by incorporating their belongings to create a space that has soul. Described as a 'taste-maker', Diane integrates custom furnishings, a range of high and low end pieces to ensure each home has a distinctive style."

Vogue Living describes her style as "classic-contemporary". Take a looksie into her portfolio and you'll see why;

Z Gallerie Lighting

I am working with a client who is considering this light fixture from   Z Gallerie for her foyer:

The foyer is pretty large at approx. 9' x 11' and has 10' ceilings so I think a large-scale fixture like this will look amazing in the space! (It measures. 28" D x 34 3/4" H.)

While checking out Z Galleries website I was pleasantly surprised by all of the fabulous lighting choices they have available! While the Orbit Chandelier featured above is by far my favorite, here's a few other lighting choices that caught my eye;
