Paint sheens make all the difference!

Most people don't realize it, but picking out a paint's sheen is just as important as choosing the color it's self! You can have dramatically different results whether you go with a flat, eggshell, semi-gloss, or a high gloss paint.

Everybody has different opinions and recommendations when it comes to selecting what sheen to use when painting walls, ceilings, doors, trim, cabinets, etc. It all depends on who you ask, and what type of look you are going for in your home. I typically use an eggshell finish on walls and ceilings and opt for a semi gloss on doors and trim. This combination has worked well for me in the past, but trends are changing. . .

I am noticing more and more high gloss and lacquered wall treatments popping up everywhere these days. This trend has been on the rise for the past few years, and now you can't open up an design magazine without seeing interiors with walls and ceilings so shinny they look permanently wet! It's a glamorous, super shiny, reflective look and I think it's going to become more 'mainstream' in upcoming years.
