Deal of the day

I was perusing the home decor aisles at Target yesterday and was quite pleased with all the new mirrors they have available! In particularly, this sunburst mirror caught my eye;
available here
It's a pretty decent size, measuring 24" in diameter and priced at only $39.99, I'm sure I could find a number of places (and clients) to you use this!

House Envy

All photos via Rue Magazine & Coco+Kelley
This chic Seattle apartment belongs to none other than Cassandra LaValle of the style blog Coco+Kelley. I love keeping up with her happenings via her blog, on Pinterest as well as Instagram. Cassandra's design sense exudes classicism and glamour and she just seems like one of those girls who has got it together, if you know what I mean. I adore her home where she did an amazing job mixing both high end and low end pieces for a look that is sooooo sophisticated yet cozy and comfortable. Her living and dining areas feature fun pops of color (via accessories and artwork SHE created!) while the bedroom is more calming with a mostly black and white color palette. The brass and gold accents throughout seem to take the apartment to a whole new level, don't you think?  I love how she packs so much style into such a small space!!

Room of the day

all images via here
How cute is this girly bedroom?! I adore the canopy bed and all of the different patterns and textures that are mixed througout the space. I'm a sucker for pink these days and have been trying to incorporate more of it into my house lately (secretly, when my husband isn't looking! Ha :) Do you decorate with pink?!

Room of the Day

Today's 'Room of the day' isn't exactly a room, it's an outside living space as you can see. I'm in love with this cozy outdoor dining area that has all the comforts of inside. So stylish! I'm still 'living' in my outdoor living room, dining outside and enjoying the last little bit of summer. Are you?!

Happy Friday! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Andy Warhol

. . . The artist who needs no introduction in the design world.

When I was in college I took a perspective drawing class where the assignment was to design any room you wanted, with any furniture, any accessories, and any art your heart imagined. Then you had to draw it in 3-D using the one-point perspective method.  I don't know about you, but those types of projects (whether they be in school or for a real client) where the budget is endless and you have complete creative control are the absolute hardest! Anyway, I designed a super contemporary space with a huge Andy Warhol Marilyn above the sofa. I think there was a Noguchi coffee table, acrylic zig zag chairs and Nelson pendant lamps in the space as well. (I was obsessed with mid-century modern design back then if you couldn't tell by my selections.) While my personal design style has morphed a bit over the years, one thing hasn't changed; I still adore Andy Warhol art. It's the perfect compliment to any style of room and has withstood the test of time over the last 50 years. Pop art of iconic American objects was his specialty and I love this quote by the artist;

"What's great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca-Cola, and you know that the President drinks Coca-Cola, Liz Taylor drinks Coca-Cola, and just think, you can drink Coca-Cola, too. A Coke is a Coke and no amount of money can get you a better coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the cokes are the same and all the cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it."

Today I thought I would share with you some snipets of my life lately, via my Instagram photos. Are you on Instagram? If not, you should be! It's quickly become my favorite way to keep up with friends, family, other bloggers, and the occasional favorite celebrity.
